Since 1976, the Public Art Commission has sought art to purchase and site in the City of Palo Alto. This is done through direct purchase, competitions and donations. The Public Art Commission encourages and reviews public art in both City and private development projects, and carries out public education.
The Public Art Commission is responsible for administering the City of Palo Alto's Art in Public Places program. The Commission, a seven member body appointed by the City Council meets once a month. Regular meetings are at 7:00 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month. Terms are for three years and commence on May 1. See PAMC Sections 2.16, 2.18, and 2.26. |
